How does it work?

Visualize an upside-down ice cube tray. Now, visualize the KOLD-DRAFT principle. The same ice tray, which is called an evaporator, is placed upside down atop a molded water plate. The KOLD-DRAFT evaporator is refrigerated and has individual cells. The water plate has a hole for every cell through which the water is vigorously pumped, injecting to the top of each cell and down the four sides.

Each cell acts as an individual freezing unit. The evaporator is solid copper for the most efficient heat transfer and Electrotin plated for protection against corrosion. Tin also has anti-microbial qualities and has been used to protect food and potable water for many years.

As the water circulates continuously through the freezing cell, it forms ice smoothly on the cold surfaces, eliminating air and flushing away impurities.

The KOLD-DRAFT Ice Machine is engineered to be self cleaning and to produce pure ice, free from impurities. Pure water freezes first, so the water containing mineral impurities is washed down and out through two drain holes located under each cell. This leaves only pure water frozen into KOLD-DRAFT cubes. The remaining water containing the impurities is drained out. After automatic rinsing, the next cycle is started with a measured amount of fresh water.

The KOLD-DRAFT Classic Ice Cube Maker needs no thermostat or time clock to govern the size of the cube. The water control system is designed so that the harvest will not take place until all the cubes have reached their full solid size.

Many of KOLD-DRAFT’S competitors have elected to make ice with a cheaper vertical design. But this design has inherent shortcomings. Ice machines designed with vertical evaporators tend to freeze the impurities that are in the water into the ice, causing the ice to stick together in the bin. Also the impurities in the water tend to corrode the evaporator and clog the ports through which the water is being pumped. This design requires the ice machine to utilize expensive water filtration equipment or a self-cleaning system to minimize these basic problems.

With KOLD-DRAFT, you don’t have to spend the extra money on expensive water filtration equipment, add-on self-cleaning units, replacement filters and maintenance labor.

Each KOLD-DRAFT Cuber is built to last, starting with type 304 stainless steel, which provides a corrosion-resistant finish inside and out, and an overall appearance that shines of quality craftsmanship.

Because of KOLD-DRAFT’S design and construction, the Classic Cuber can be stacked with a new Classic Cuber, a Crusher or an existing KOLD-DRAFT ice machine or bin, guaranteeing maximum flexibility and allowing ice making capacity to increase as ice requirements grow.
